Are the comparable?

The 480-35 and 480-25 are competing with the Condor 35L and 25L

The Leopard 640-35 is to the Condor 35 2.0,

However the Condor 2.0 50 is a larger unit with more magnification, which also makes it less handy rather than pocket size so its really a different class – more like Bino size

However it lists its optical magnification as 2.7x which is nearly the same as the 480-35 Leopard which is 2.8x and side by side Leopard images vs a 640 show that 480 core to be the sweet spot.

A 480 Core has 56% more resolution than a 384, while its still less than a 640 it will offer more magnification for the same size lens which enables you to see larger targets – watch the video to see.

While they are not in the same class – I would suggest you look more into it as $5,299 is a lot of money and you could have a handheld and a scope with a lot of change

Price

Well there is no contest here – and no PARD is not a cheaper product it’s just better priced

And really for the differences in the actual specs there is a lot of difference in the price …

Warranty

PARD Leopards have a 5 Year Warranty, HikMicro is a 3 Year Warranty

Thermal Cores

The Leopard 480 (25/35) have a much better larger core than the Condor 25L/35L which only has a 384 size core – 480 Cores provide 56% more resolution which is huge and really closes the gap to a 640 without sacrificing optical magnification in a small lens.

In short, Condor 25L/35L has 110,592 pixels (384*288) vs PARD Leopards 172,800 (480*360) – that’s 56% more!

Does 5mk make a difference?, not really in the real world

Generally more pixels is better (384 vs 480) and back to the 5mk difference, in the real world there is normally only a few pixels actually on the target itself – so which one of the 5-20 pixels is actually going to show this difference …

Is there a difference between 50mk and 20mk, yeah, but its diminishing returns at this level

Image control, every brand has their own image control – same as vehicles – nothing really unique there

Optical Magnification

Wondering why the Condor has a bit more magnification for the same size lens – it has a smaller core, so a smaller area to focus the image on – it also depends how the lens is attached so there are some variations in design

An older 384 Core has less pixels to work with (56% less) which makes digitally zooming not very good, whereas the Leopard with its higher resolution can offset some of its lower magnification with digital zoom – giving you both zoom and field of view.

Optical Magnification and Field of View are important aspects for these devices, BUT in this class of Thermal Handheld is really about portability and shorter ranges

Laser Rangefinder

All models have an LRF

This is one of the MOST useful aspects of a thermal handheld

We recommend that you ONLY buy a Thermal Handheld with an Laser Ranger finder

1. Paint the Target with the Laser for a Night Vision scope to see and confirm it - saves trying to describe where the target actually is - THIS IS HUGE
1. ONLY KNOWN TO WORK WITH PARD DEVICES (Unsure about other brands)
2. Know the distances -  useful even in the day to work out where the animal is

Weight and Size

The PARD Leopard is certainly more compact and easy to fit into your pockets and carry – that is the point of a handheld thermal monocular in this case – they are not meant to be huge 10x50 binoculars

The Condor 50L comes in a 537g with battery and 193 mm × 71.5 mm × 93.3mm

That is a huge lens and while it is a 640 with 2.7x optical magnification its not really a pocket sized thermal anymore, this is more like a set of binos
